Australian grappling legend Lachlan Giles showed his lighter side when asked about how he could tell the Ruotolo twins apart.
‘Giant Killer’ had a blast talking about his now fellow ONE Championship athletes, Kade and Tye Ruotolo, who hold the lightweight and welterweight submission grappling world titles, respectively.
Appearing on The FloGrappling Show on YouTube, Giles was asked how he can distinguish the twins.
“Shave the hair and we'll see. The hair helps,” Giles jokingly quipped.

Giles does have some history with Kade Ruotolo. The 39-year-old Australian legend met the 22-year-old BJJ savant in the 2022 ADCC World Championship 77kg division.
The pair figured in an intense first-round battle, up until Ruotolo snatched victory with a punishing armbar. The Atos standout went on to win his division and became the youngest ADCC world champion in history.
For Giles, meanwhile, that bout marked the last time he’d ever compete professionally.
However, the Australian had a change of heart when offered a grappling superfight against fellow BJJ legend Marcelo Garcia.
Giles is set to make his promotional debut at ONE Fight Night 38 on Prime Video this Friday, Dec. 5.
The full event streams live in U.S. primetime from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Prime Video for North American audiences.
Lachlan Giles says he'll be prepared for Marcelo Garcia's own leg locks
Marcelo Garcia is mostly known for his crushing top pressure and fundamental techniques like his 'Marcelo-tine' and the butterfly guard.
However, Lachlan Giles has prepared for everything and won't be caught off guard if the Brazilian icon decides to surprise him with leg attacks.
The Aussie innovator said in the same interview:
“There's a clip of him using the saddle and a lateral kneebar finish from the saddle. I think he's played around with some of the leg locks. I'm not sure how much that is part of his game, whether he'd want to play that style against me, or whether his style will be more to avoid the legs and come on top. Who knows?”
