Despite Conor McGregor campaigning for a spot in the UFC White House event, Islam Makhachev seems convinced the Irishman won't be returning to the UFC ever again, much less on a card of such magnitude.

During a recent appearance on the Complex News podcast, the former pound-for-pound king dismissed McGregor ever returning to fighting, claiming that his mentor Khabib Nurmagomedov had already broken him:

"No, this guy is never coming back. Khabib broke his mind, you know. This guy is never coming back; he is not going to fight anymore. I told this two years ago, and I still think he is not going to fight."

Furthermore, Makhachev highlighted the 37-year-old's recent suspension for a doping policy violation to hammer in his opinion:

"And now he has a disqualification from the anti-doping commission. That's why I think, mo. Maybe Jon Jones will come back to fight at the White House, but not Conor."

McGregor last fought at UFC 264 in 2021, where he fractured his leg in his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier. While he was slated to return against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in 2024, a toe injury ultimately derailed the comeback.

Ever since the White House event was announced, McGregor has made his interest clear, and the Irishman now insists that a match against Michael Chandler has already been verbally agreed upon for the showpiece.

The former two-division champion has also taken a break from social media lately, likely signaling that he his locking in for training camp. In recent public appearances, he has even begun to look closer to fight shape.

When Islam Makhachev said Conor McGregor was "not allowed" in Dagestan

While Dagestan fighters from Khabib Nurmagomedov's camp are often regarded as the gold standard in discipline, Islam Makhachev believes that even they cannot help Conor McGregor, and more importantly, do not want to.

During an interview with Full Send MMA, Makhachev was asked whether Dagestani style training could help 'The Notorious'. The former lightweight champion was quick to shut down the idea, noting the MMA legend was not even allowed in their home:

"[He] is not allowed. [We can't fix him.] No. He is never going to come to Dagestan, and we're not friends. We don't want him [to] come."
