Dan Hooker recently shared his thoughts on Justin Gaethje hinting at retirement if his demands for a title shot aren't met. 'The Hangman' also reacted to the possibility of Paddy Pimblett getting the next title shot against Ilia Topuria.Earlier this year, Gaethje expressed his dismay at the UFC for seemingly leaving him out of the lightweight title picture and claimed that the promotion owed him a championship fight. Gaethje also called for a fight against Topuria at the UFC White House event next year.Ahead of Hooker's upcoming lightweight clash against Arman Tsarukyan at UFC Qatar this weekend, he addressed Gaethje's ultimatum and reacted to Pimblett potentially getting the next lightweight title shot. Speaking to the media, he said:"Oh, they can't give Paddy the title shot, can they? No, I mean, it looks like they're probably going to. Looks like they're probably going to do Paddy for the belt. That's just a bit ridiculous."Hooker continued:"Yeah, but you can't do that either [threaten to retire]. Can't just be like, 'I'm not playing anymore.' You get a title shot if you beat Arman Tsarukyan, that's how you get a title shot. You beat the No.1 contender, you beat the best guy in the division and you get a title shot. Sitting around and f**king pointing fingers and arguing about who deserves it more? Just go out there and win fights."When Justin Gaethje threatened to retire unless he was given a UFC lightweight title shotIn June, Justin Gaethje made it clear that he wanted to be in the title mix and threatened to hang up his gloves if he was denied a championship opportunity next.In an episode of The Makeshift Podcast, Gaethje pointed out that he was 3-1 in his last four outings and expressed his frustration at Charles Oliveira and Ilia Topuria getting an opportunity to fight for the vacant lightweight belt at UFC 317. He said:"They owe me a championship fight. I'm 3-1 in my last four. They came to my house begging me to fight Max Holloway at UFC 300. I consider that an exhibition fight. I don't mean that the loss is not on my record... Since I've won [vs. Fiziev], the champion [ex-champ Islam Makhachev] has been saying he wants to fight me. So they could have easily set that up, but they didn't."He continued:"Then he vacates, and then Oliveira is 2-2 in his last fights, already has a loss to Makhachev, and they bring a brand-new guy [Topuria] in, and I get f**ked again... I'm the most consistent guy... Nah, I'm done doing sh*t here. I love fighting for the UFC and I'd never want to fight somewhere else, but I'm not just going to throw my legacy away for anybody."
