Dana White kept the cards close to his chest when it came to Alexander Volkanovski’s UFC return. The Australian is the current UFC featherweight champion and is considered one of the best to have fought in the promotion.

Volkanovski’s last fight was at UFC 314, where he beat Diego Lopes to win the vacant UFC featherweight title.

White was on Fox Sports Australia where he was asked about the UFC Sydney card rumored to take place in February 2026. The UFC CEO didn’t share any details but added that they were working on a lot of things.

He was then asked about Volkanovski featuring on that card, and White had a three-word answer:

“It’s a possibility”

White was then pressed to share the details on who Volkanovski could fight next. However, he remained tight-lipped about this too.

“I am not telling you what we are going to do to Volk next. Once we figure out what’s next, we will announce it.”

Volkanovski would be an ideal candidate for a UFC card in Australia. There are several featherweights who could step up to fight for the title, or Lopes could be in for a rematch.

The featherweight champion would probably headline the card if he features on it, given that he would be defending his gold.

UFC returning to Sydney after almost a year

The last UFC event in Sydney took place in February. This was the promotion’s seventh visit to the Australian city and the first since UFC 293 in 2023.

Two title fights featured on the card, with the main event being a middleweight clash between Dricus du Plessis and Sean Strickland.

Zhang Weili vs. Tatiana Suarez was the co-main event with the women’s strawweight title on the line.

Both title fights went the distance, with du Plessis and Weili keeping hold of their respective titles.
