"It's been a long time coming" - Aliff Sor Dechapan relieved to finally confirm world title shot against Prajanchai

Aliff Sor Dechapan has been chasing this moment for years—and now it's finally official.

The 21-year-old Malaysian-Thai striker earned his shot at Prajanchai PK Saenchai's ONE strawweight Muay Thai world title with a unanimous decision victory over Ramadan Ondash at ONE Fight Night 38 inside Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium.

During his post-fight interview with Nick Atkin, the Sor Dechapan representative revealed the relief that came with finally securing his world championship opportunity.

"I'm happy to get the victory today. Yes, I'm very happy. It's been a long time coming [my chance to fight for the world title]. I've been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. I will get the belt for sure," Aliff Sor Dechapan told Atkin.

With his win last Friday, Dec. 5, Aliff took his promotional slate to an impressive 9-2. He owns wins over the likes of Shamil Adukhov, Walter Goncalves, Peyman Zolfaghari, and Yangdam Jitmuangnon inside the Circle.


Aliff Sor Dechapan describes what ONE world title glory would mean to him

During a separate post-fight exchange with ONE Championship, Aliff Sor Dechapan explained what it'll mean to hoist 26 pounds of gold inside the Circle.

"This [getting the world title] has been my dream. I always want that title. I will always want that belt. I will win that belt for my gym and my father," the young star offered.

Aliff's father, Rakib Ahmad, was a Malaysian Muay Thai star who claimed the bronze medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, which was hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

It'll certainly mean the world to him to see his son claim the sport's most prestigious prize today in the near future.
