"It’s like, if all of us get hit in the nuts" - Sean Brady defends Tom Aspinall, calls Ciryl Gane’s eye poke “very bad”

Sean Brady recently gave his thoughts on Tom Aspinall suffering an eye poke at UFC 321. He backed Aspinall, although many in the MMA community felt the Brit should have kept fighting.

Aspinall faced Ciryl Gane on Saturday in his first undisputed heavyweight title defense in the main event of UFC 321 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Despite looking sharp in the fight, Gane landed a double eye-poke, which compromised Aspinall's vision at the end of the first round. As a result, their matchup was declared a no-contest by referee Jason Herzog.

In a recent episode of the SteadyPicks podcast, Brady offered his thoughts on the matter:

''I think it was gonna wind up being like a very very good fight look like Aspinall was getting comfortable. He was getting hit, like his nose was busted, like there's some nice blood on his ship. But it was trending towards being a good fight. Bro that eye poke was very bad. I was like deflated afterwards. I was like goddamn... and then like he was getting booed after work.''

He continued:

''It’s like, if all of us get hit in the nuts, we’re all gonna have different reactions. Ciryl’s one finger was in Tom’s skull, and that’s some nut-a*s sh*t. Like, you think Tom Aspinall didn’t want to continue to fight? You think he didn’t want to fight that motherf*****?"

During the post-fight presser, UFC CEO Dana White implied that Aspinall and Gane will face each other in a rematch.

As for Brady (18-1), the American is currently on a three-fight win streak, the most recent being an impressive second-round submission win over former 170-pound champion Leon Edwards at UFC London in March.

Sean Brady aims to get into title contention after defeating an emerging prospect

Sean Brady is set to face undefeated contender Michael Morales in a welterweight bout on the main card of UFC 322 on Nov. 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

In his SteadyPicks podcast earlier this month, Brady explained his decision to face Morales:

''I took this fight because fighters fight, and there’s literally no other options... So whether I fight him now or I fight him later, I’m going to have to get to him eventually... Coming off beating Leon [Edwards], and then I take this risk of fighting this young up-and-comer, once I beat him, I’m undeniable for the title shot after that.
