Former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Hama of Thailand carefully analyzed his compatriot Superlek’s decisive loss to Yuki Yoza at ONE 173.

On Nov. 16, ‘The Kicking Machine’ was outclassed by the Japanese striker in their bantamweight kickboxing clash, losing via unanimous decision at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

Yoza masterfully controlled the bout from start to finish with tactical brilliance, leaving the pound-for-pound great unable to generate his signature offense.

Nong-O watched how Yoza walked down the Thai superstar with devastating low kicks, which set up his speedy combinations as the fight wore on.

During an appearance on The ONE Podcast Episode 37, Nong-O broke down why Superlek had a hard time against the Team Vasileus’ star’s high-octane style:

"I think he planned to fight like that. But when he meets an opponent who tries to counter [like Yuki Yoza], it's hard to get out. You can't. It's very difficult because if the fighter plans well, we can think of it, but we can't get out of it."

Superlek, the reigning ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion, has now dropped his last two contests. The 30-year-old was also bested by reigning ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nabil Anane earlier this year.

Nabil Anane urges Superlek to return to flyweight

Nong-O isn't the only one worried about Superlek's recent slide.

His former opponent, Nabil Anane, also gave his two cents on 'The Kicking Machine's' troubles.

According to the Team Mehdi Zatout prodigy, a move back to 135 pounds might be the best solution.

The ONE bantamweight Muay Thai kingpin told the Bangkok Post's Nick Atkin:

"Yes, but he was very good in flyweight, you know. He's quite small in bantamweight. He's quite small. He's not, he's not here, you know. We can see, we can see. I think he did only three fights now in bantamweight, if I'm not wrong."
