Reinier de Ridder and Khamzat Chimaev have been on each other's radar for some time, and it didn't take long for a fake account impersonating 'RDR' to exploit their rivalry to farm some quality content. Fortunately, the middleweight contender seems to have resolved the issue since.

For context, Chimaev took a dig at de Ridder after the Dutchman retired on his stool after the fourth round at UFC Vancouver. The fake account smelled the opportunity and engaged in a back-and-forth with the Chechen-born 'Borz' in the days that followed.

Unaware that it was not actually de Ridder on the other end, Chimaev got repeatedly rage baited, leaving the MMA world in splits.

Discussing the fan account in a recent interview with Jaiden Cable for Home of Fight, de Ridder shared an update:

"There is this Twitter [now X] account trying to be me, so I think he still thinks that it is me... [The fake account] says crazy stuff. So I reported it a couple of times before, but now I think they really took it down."

While the former ONE Championship two-division champion agrees that the account produced some hilarious content, he highlighted that it, at times, also dabbled in some questionable posts:

"It's pretty funny, it's some quality content. [Yeah, my manager saw it] because it was saying some stuff about Ali [Abdelaziz] as well. It was really dark and bad at times, but everybody knew it wasn't me, except Khamzat."

Reinier de Ridder jokes middleweight rival could be running his fake account

During the aforementioned interview, Reinier de Ridder pointed to Paulo Costa as a potential next opponent, even suggesting a future catchweight fight against the former title challenger.

However, when the host asked him to send a message to 'Borrachinha' on air, 'RDR' had just one piece of advice – stay off social media. The Brazilian is notorious for his polarizing posts on X, which has birthed a hilarious suspicion in de Ridder's mind:

"Stay off Twitter, dude. Come on, chill... Maybe the same guy [is running the fake account]. Maybe it's him, who knows." [7:03 minutes into the interview]
