UFC 322: Islam Makhachev brings back his iconic line while sharing bold UFC 322 victory celebration idea

Islam Makhachev appears locked in for his UFC 322 welterweight title clash against Jack Della Maddalena. Furthermore, it seems the former pound-for-pound king already has an ideal victory celebration in mind.

During the pre-fight press conference, he was asked how he plans to celebrate his win. The 34-year-old suggested that fans come to his hometown in Dagestan so that they could celebrate together.

Ever hilarious on the mic, Makhachev did not stop there, but delivered one of his most iconic lines as the cherry on top:

"If I have two belts? Maybe all of you guys can come to Dagestan and we celebrate together for 2-3 years."

"Send him 2-3 years to Dagestan" has become an instant MMA pop culture staple ever since Makhachev used the line to urge Daniel Cormier to send his children to train wrestling under him in Dagestan.

Heading into UFC 322, the former lightweight champion is a -290 favorite with Della Maddalena as a +215 underdog. A win at the pay-per-view will crown Makhachev as the 11th two-division champion in UFC history.

Elsewhere on the fight card, flyweight queen Valentina Shevchenko will take on former strawweight champion Zhang Weili.

UFC 322 will go down on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Madison Square Garden, New York. Fans in the U.S. can catch the event on ESPN+, while in the U.K., the fight card will be broadcast on TNT Sports and Discovery+.

Now, with the fight little over a day away, the Sambo maestro has shared a clear rationale for such big praise for his opponent. As it stands, it was not merely Della Maddalena's size advantage that prompted him and his team to make the assessment. During the pre-fight presser, Makhachev said:

"No, not because he is bigger, because he is good, you know. He is good. I saw his fight with Belal [Muhammad], with many guys. He is good everywhere. Yeah, his striking is pretty good, but I saw his wrestling, he can defend. His grappling, he feels if somebody takes him down, it's not like something he is surprised. He feels good, also there, but I know my skill is better."
