“I will build the new era” - Rukiya Anpo out to steal the torch from ‘aging’ Marat Grigorian at ONE 173

Former three-time K-1 Champion Rukiya 'Demolition Man' Anpo of Japan reckons there will be a passing of the torch moment at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri.

The Japanese slugger will make his promotional debut against kickboxing legend Marat Grigorian on November 16 in Tokyo’s Ariake Arena.

While acknowledging the Armenian’s lofty credentials, Anpo believes a victory will announce himself as the division's future.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Anpo says he’s ready to use Grigorian as a stepping stone in the world’s largest martial arts organization:

"Marat is aging while I'm a newcomer in the organization. That means I will build the new era of this division and I will be the true star in this division."

After criticizing Grigorian’s supposed one-dimensional style, Anpo is now taking aim at his opponent’s age.

To be fair, the 34-year-old veteran still looks as sharp as ever, but the 29-year-old Japanese star clearly thinks otherwise.

After all the provocations, fireworks are expected to set off once these two heated individuals finally stand across from each other inside the ONE Circle.

Anpo seeks to back up his words with performance, while Grigorian is eager to silence the brash newcomer for good.
