Khamzat Chimaev recently sounded off on Alex Pereira for seemingly dismissing his fight callout. He also claimed that the UFC didn't want to book them for a clash. In October, Pereira reclaimed the light heavyweight championship after beating Magomed Ankalaev via an impressive first-round knockout at UFC 320. Soon after, Chimaev took to social media and called out the Brazilian for a heavyweight super fight. Pereira later issued a response outlining two conditions for their potential clash, which Chimaev accepted. While a Pereira-Chimaev clash is undoubtedly an exciting prospect for combat sports fans, it appears the UFC isn't keen on making it happen. In a recent interview with ESPN MMA, 'Borz' claimed that the promotion didn't want the fight to happen and said:"Good fight for me. Everyone knows that. UFC knows that, but UFC doesn’t want to give this guy to me. And [Pereira] said, ‘Oh, I’ll come to you, jiu-jitsu, wrestling, grappling,' I don’t know what. Grappling, jiu-jitsu, it’s not our job. Our job is UFC. UFC fighters... And he’s saying he’s more famous than me, that’s why I’m using his name. Bro, if I just say, 'Hi,' my story on Instagram gets more views than his fight. So, I don’t think this guy [is] more famous than me."He added:"I don’t think he wants that fight. He knows about it, and UFC knows about it. I can’t say the things UFC says, but it’s going to be no respect for Alex, because everyone knows this guy is not my level... He knows it. That’s why he’s running away."When Khamzat Chimaev shared an honest preview of a potential Alex Pereira fightLast year, Khamzat Chimaev shared his thoughts on a potential Alex Pereira fight and claimed that it would be an "easier" fight for him. However, Chimaev admitted that Pereira could knock him out and gave the Brazilian his flowers for his striking prowess. In an interview with former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping, Chimaev said:"Of course, I've always been open [to fight Alex Pereira at 205 pounds]. I know, stylistically, this match for me is much easier than other guys. In striking, I'm going to be honest, I know the guy can knock me out. I know the guy is a good striker, one of the best, hardest punchers. But I'm one of the best grapplers, wrestlers. He's not that."
