Jon Jones seems to be entering a stage of reflection and has extended an apology to UFC CEO Dana White. He admitted his fault over a collapsed verbal deal for a Tom Aspinall fight. The former UFC heavyweight champion has been vocal about his desire to return for the White House card next June.
Jones vacated his title earlier this year before announcing his retirement. However, the buzz around the proposed UFC White House event quickly reignited his interest.
White, however, remains unmoved, having previously said that Jones would not feature on the card, given his track record of cancellations. Despite that, Jones told the No Scripts podcast that he feels responsible for the fallout and wishes to make amends in person. He said:
“I think my most immediate goal is to try to be on the White House card. I’m giving Dana his space. Dana has changed my life. He’s changed my life, he’s changed my children’s lives. I am forever grateful to him. We had a verbal agreement that didn’t go over well, nothing was finalized, but I do admit guilt – not guilt, but I was wrong.”

He added:
“The way things went down, I was wrong. And I wish that I could see him face-to-face and just apologize to him so that we can let bygones be bygones and get back to making some major money for the sport, and really entertaining these fans.”

"I really hope it happens [crosses fingers]. Dana, bro... Please, bro. Please. I'm training. I feel great. I'm healthy, and I would be so honored to represent our country and… and… and do what I do best."
