Henry Cejudo recently recalled speaking to Jon Jones about hanging up his gloves while he was undefeated and urging 'Bones' to ask NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal for advice.Earlier this year, Jones was in serious talks to face Tom Aspinall in a blockbuster heavyweight title unification fight. The MMA icon was even offered a reported $30 million to accept the fight. While many expected the Aspinall-Jones clash to materialize, 'Bones' announced his retirement in June and vacated the heavyweight title. The then-interim champion Aspinall was promoted to undisputed champion as a result. Jones notably re-entered the UFC testing pool in July to be able to compete on the White House card next year. However, it appears Dana White isn't keen on booking Jones for a fight on that historic, one-of-a-kind card.Ahead of his final walk down to the octagon against Payton Talbott at UFC 323 this weekend, Cejudo recalled his conversation with Jones about retirement during a media scrum and said:"Every fighter wants to leave on top. Look at Jon Jones, he got offered $30 million. I remember I talked to him for a good 40 minutes right before he was kinda making his decision, we were legit on the phone. One of the things I did tell him, I was like, 'Jon, if I could tell you something, bro. If you're happy and you don't necessarily need the money, stay on top.' You lose one fight for people to troll you? Like, leave on top, man. Even if it's $30 million."He added:"I told him to link up with Shaquille O'Neal. 'Talk to him. Let him mentor you.' Like, how he's able to use his likeness to get equity from his different businesses and actually make money. He's made more money in business than he did on the basketball court."Henry Cejudo on Jon Jones potentially competing at UFC White HouseDespite Dana White seemingly pushing back against the idea of Jon Jones competing on the UFC White House card, Henry Cejudo believes the promotion's frontman will cave in and book 'Bones' for the main event. In an episode of the Pound 4 Pound podcast, Cejudo discussed a potential Tom Aspinall vs. Jones fight as the UFC White House headliner and said:"President Dana White is going to cave in. He’s going to give Jon Jones that opportunity... I understand Dana White’s point, too, because Jon Jones, he is a bit of a wild card... USA vs. England, we’re taking this sh*t back to 1776 and I do believe that Jon Jones takes out Tom Aspinall within the first championship rounds, I truly do believe that. This should be the main event. Everything else should freaking follow." [H/t: MMA Fighting]
