Michael Chandler became the unexpected target of Arman Tsarukyan as the Armenian was asked about Paddy Pimblett.

Tsarukyan was on Daniel Cormier’s podcast and was asked about Pimblett’s chances of beating the UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria.

Tsarukyan, who is chasing Topuria for a title shot, dismissed Pimblett’s chances. Cormier, however, brought up the Englishman’s win over former Bellator champion Michael Chandler.

Pimblett beat Chandler impressively at UFC 314 via TKO, but that set Tsarukyan off:

“OK, but how many people destroyed Michael Chandler? He is 40 years old. He has six losses and two wins in the UFC. He has like four loses win streak. He is a nobody… he showed good fights but he is not an elite fighter.”

Chandler does have two wins in the UFC but has lost his other five fights in the promotion, not the six that Tsarukyan claimed. Chandler is also on a three-fight losing streak currently.

His next target was Pimblett. The Armenian listed out several fighters that Pimblett would not be able to defeat:

“Paddy cannot beat [Charles] Oliveira, he cannot beat even [Dan] Hooker. He cannot beat [Dustin] Poirier, he cannot beat [Justin] Gaethje. He cannot beat [Max] Holloway, he cannot beat me. If he is gonna beat Gaethje, then I am going to say ‘this guy is good.’”

Cormier asked him again if he thought Pimblett was good, but Tsarukyan shut that down by saying the Englishman “sucked.”

Tsarukyan even joked he would walkout of the interview if Cormier believed Pimblett was good.

Arman Tsarukyan open to fighting Conor McGregor?

While Arman Tsarukyan boosted his title shot chances with a dominant win over Dan Hooker, he could be open to fighting a UFC legend.

Tsarukyan, during the same interview, was asked if he was willing to take up another fighter before getting a shot at gold.

Initially, the Armenian dismissed the idea of fighting someone apart from the champion. However, he kept Conor McGregor as an option but claimed that clash would never be set up:

“If it’s not Conor McGregor, I would not fight.”

Tsarukyan continued:

“He never fight me and the UFC never let me fight Conor McGregor. It’s a nightmare for him.”
