Harry Goularte, the man accused of molesting UFC legend Cain Velasquez's son, is set to face trial nearly four years after his arrest. Goularte faces one felony charge of lewd acts with a minor under 14 years old, to which he pleaded not guilty.

After Goularte was arrested in February 2022, the authorities allowed his release on the condition of GPS monitoring. While he was on his way to collect the ankle monitor, he and his family were pursued by the former UFC heavyweight champion in a high-speed car chase.

During the chase, Velasquez fired multiple shots at Goularte's vehicle and hit his stepfather in the arm, due to which the MMA icon was arrested for a host of charges, including attempted murder. Earlier this year, he was sentenced to five years in prison with time served. Post-arrest, Velasquez spent nine months behind bars before he was granted bail.

Velasquez is expected to be released before Goularte's trial, which is reportedly set to start on March 9 next year. Judge Benjamin Williams approved the start date at a trial setting hearing earlier this week in San Jose.

When Joe Rogan advocated for Cain Velasquez to be released early

Earlier this year, Joe Rogan shared his honest thoughts on Cain Velasquez getting arrested for shooting at Harry Goularte and called for the ex-UFC heavyweight champion's release.

In an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast with Ilia Topuria (JRE MMA Show #166), Rogan shared his two cents on Velasquez's situation and said:

"He did what every father would've done. If you're not a father, you do not understand the murderous rage you'd have if some man molested your baby... If there's ever a person who could justifiably say, 'I was temporarily insane,' it's a father chasing after someone, especially a man, who molests your boy. Everybody understands it. Everybody understands it. He should've never gone to jail. He's not a threat to society. He's not a danger."
