UFC analyst Din Thomas recently shared his thoughts on the Justin Gaethje vs. Paddy Pimblett fight and issued a bold preview of the matchup. While Thomas admitted that Pimblett was a "crafty" fighter, he's backing Gaethje to get the win.Pimblett and Gaethje are set to throw down in an interim lightweight title fight at UFC 324 in January. The Liverpudlian is coming off an impressive third-round knockout victory over Michael Chandler at UFC 314 in April. Meanwhile, Gaethje outpointed Rafael Fiziev over five rounds to win via unanimous decision at UFC 313 in March. In an interview with MMA Junkie, Thomas shared his preview of the fight and stated that he was "leaning toward" Gaethje:"I'm leaning toward Gaethje for sure. Absolutely. Gaethje is still a banger. Paddy is crafty, Paddy is really crafty, and he's shown that he can withstand certain things and can hang around with certain guys. I just think when Justin Gaethje gets rolling downhill, and the amount of violence he's able to put on people, you can try to be as crafty as you possibly can, but eventually he's going to catch up to you, and you've got to stand up and fight him."He added:"I'm pretty sure Paddy Pimblett can't take Gaethje down. I'm leaning toward Gaethje, in fact, pretty heavily actually... I'm not sure he's going to be able to take the amount of punishment that Justin Gaethje's able to dish out." The UFC analyst also claimed that Gaethje was Pimblett's "best chance" at winning a title.Thomas opined that Pimblett would struggle hard against opponents like Arman Tsarukyan and Ilia Topuria, saying:"No doubt about it, of all the fighters, this is going to be his [Pimblett's] best chance. There is some truth in that the Justin we know is in the twilight of his career. He's trying to get that belt. He wants the undisputed belt. He wants the legitimate belt. This is his chance to do that. For Paddy, I can't imagine him being able to do [those] things with Arman Tsarukyan or Ilia Topuria."He added:"If he's going to fight anybody, it's going to have to be the older guy in Justin Gaethje. Arman Tsarukyan is a young stallion who is trending upward. Same with Ilia Topuria. Justin Gaethje is at the twilight, trying to solidify his legacy. He's Paddy's best chance at winning a title."
