A long legal chapter for Conor McGregor has closed with a clear ruling this week. A federal judge in Florida dismissed the 2023 sexual assault lawsuit filed against him.
The decision came from Senior Judge Joan A. Lenard, who ruled that the case be dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be filed again. The lawsuit was centered on an alleged incident during the 2023 NBA Finals in Miami.
The plaintiff, a 49-year-old business executive, accused McGregor of assaulting her inside a men’s restroom at Kaseya Center after Game 4. She filed the civil suit in January 2025 and named both McGregor and the Miami Heat organization as defendants due to their oversight of the venue.
Prosecutors did not pursue criminal charges at the time, and McGregor maintained his denial of all accusations throughout the process. Court filings stated that the two had spoken inside the Courtside Club before the alleged encounter.

The venue and team were included in the complaint based on claims about security and supervision. With the recent dismissal, the case will not return to court.
McGregor has not fought since he broke his leg in his third fight against Dustin Poirier in 2021. McGregor intends to make his long-awaited return next June on the UFC White House card.
Supreme Court decision gives Nikita Hand final closure in long-running Conor McGregor case
Nikita Hand reached an important point in her legal fight as the Supreme Court declined to hear Conor McGregor’s latest appeal.
The ruling leaves the previous findings intact and brings an end to a dispute that has lasted for years. The decision also confirms the High Court jury’s award of almost $250,000 in damages to Hand.
Midway through the proceedings, the Court addressed a key point in McGregor’s appeal. His legal team argued that questioning about his repeated no comment answers created an unfair trial environment.
The Court of Appeal had already ruled that this questioning should not have been allowed. It also found that the error did not undermine the fairness of the hearing. According to a report by the Irish Examiner, Hand reacted to the decision and said:
“Today marks not a victory for me but for all of those who have been treated as I have. You are never alone on your journey, if you choose not to be. Help and support is there.”
The Supreme Court noted that McGregor’s application raised no issue of general public importance and that he had already received the benefit of his right to appeal. The judges were satisfied that the earlier proceedings remained sound. The court also rejected a related appeal from James Lawrence regarding legal costs.
