Michael Chandler still harbors thoughts of facing Conor McGregor in the UFC. The pair were scheduled to fight at UFC 303, but the bout was called off after the Irishman pulled out with an injury.
Chandler then faced Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314 but lost that fight. Despite being on a three-fight losing streak, ‘Iron’ hasn’t given up on facing one of the biggest names in combat sports.
Chandler has repeatedly shared his desire to fight McGregor, and he did so again while speaking to MMA Fighting:
“We would definitely have to go out there, dot our I’s, cross our T’s and go out there and not just beat Conor but dominate him and just systematically and surgically break the man down.”

Chandler added that he had dreamed of this fight since the event was confirmed and was confident it would take place:
“To be able to get draped in the stars and bars and get my hand raised right there on the White House lawn. I’ve dreamt about it. I’ve visualized it ever since this announcement was made that we were doing this fight on the White House lawn and I believe it’s going to come to fruition.”
‘Iron’ envisioned U.S. President Donald Trump lifting his arm after beating McGregor. The American highlighted that anything is possible, with no one expecting a UFC event to take place in the White House:
“There is almost nothing that is impossible, first of all, this sounded impossible just six months ago, doing a fight at the White House. Now you get it set and the amount of things that are on the table, nothing is off the table. That would actually be really, really cool. Donald Trump coming in and raising my hand, raising my arm to get a win for America on its birthday. That would be cool.”
Chandler concluded by suggesting that a White House belt be given to the winner, too, a memento of sorts for being part of the historic event.
The White House card is set for June 2026, on Donald Trump's birthday. Dana White is yet to confirm any fights for the event, with discussions to take place from February next year.
McGregor, Chandler, Jon Jones and Alex Pereira are some names interested in fighting on the card. The White House event is part of the America250 celebrations and could be the biggest UFC card in history.
