ONE flyweight submission grappling king ‘Baby Shark’ Diogo Reis has proven himself as one of, if not the best flyweight grappler in the world, with the ONE Championship hardware to prove it.
Reis captured the gold with a unanimous decision over Japan’s Daiki Yonekura at ONE Fight Night 38: Andrade vs. Baatarkhuu on Prime Video. Now on top of the world, Reis is looking to face all-comers.
But he doesn’t want to just stop there. The 23-year-old has made a shocking revelation that he could transition to mixed martial arts competition under the ONE Championship banner, which makes these things possible.

He told Bangkok Post’s Nick Atkin:
“Yeah. Yeah. I tried, you know. As I say, from where I live, once a week I do a boxing training. So I'm trying to do more like that, more often. Like one, two times, keep that. But when I was a kid, I trained a lot in Muay Thai, boxing, everything. Capoeira. So I like that. But as I moved to Melqui Galvão’s gym, I stopped doing that and just kept jiu-jitsu and judo. And after judo, I started training in wrestling. So jiu-jitsu and wrestling was my base.”
Reis continued:
“Yeah. So as I say, I’m on a platform that can make this happen because, you know, it's a good transition. And also ONE, I think they give this opportunity also [to any athlete] what they are doing. So maybe we can make it in a few years, so transition to fighting MMA. Why not?”

Diogo Reis says he left it all in the ring against Daiki Yonekura
‘Baby Shark’ Diogo Reis wasn’t surprised with how good Daiki Yonekura turned out to be.
The 23-year-old phenom was met with great resistance against the Japanese grappler at ONE Fight Night 38: Andrade vs. Baatarkhuu on Prime Video. But he knew this from the start and prepared well for it.
The Brazilian told ONE:
“No any surprise, I was ready for everything. I knew you were a good opponent, so I still prepared myself for this, you know, I'm so tired here because I gave him my all to get this title. So that's what made it better.”
