Superbon unified the ONE featherweight kickboxing world title after he defeated interim champion Masaaki Noiri by unanimous decision in their action-packed title clash at the weekend in Japan. After a brief feeling-out period, the two protagonists went at it. The Superbon Training Camp founder made early inroads in the opening round with his high kicks, while Noiri countered with his short calf kicks.Action further picked up in the next two rounds as both fighters tried to establish momentum with telling strikes. Along the way, they were warned for repeated clinching, but it did not stop them from adjusting and bringing the fight to one another.In the championship rounds, Superbon began to land more significant hits with his headkicks and punches. Noiri tried to rally back in the fifth and final round, but the Thai champion made sure he disrupted his opponent's rhythm and limited the Japanese standout's effectiveness.The match went to the judges' scorecards, which all went Superbon's way. The win improved his overall record to 117-37. He now looks to revisit his push for the featherweight Muay Thai world title and become a two-sport world champion.ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri was the second live-on-ground event of ONE Championship in Japan this year.
