Alex Pereira knocking out his sparring partner doesn't seem to have gone down well with a surging UFC star. Interestingly, however, the fighter's frustration doesn't stem from empathy for the affected party, but from what he sees as a double standard that has unfairly targeted him in the past.
Earlier this week, as footage of Pereira knocking out a fighter during a hard sparring session started doing the rounds on social media, UFC bantamweight Vinicius Oliveira took to X, launching a bold accusation against the fandom and the fighting community:
"A lot of u r idiots. @AlexPereiraUFC knocked out his training partner who never threw a punch, and u applauded him. Now I spar with professional fighters, and u talk trash. I'll do five minutes of boxing sparring with @AlexPereiraUFC, and we'll see what you have to say then."

Seriously hurting one's sparring partners - or worse, releasing video of the incident - is generally considered to be against the ethos of combat sports. As such, Oliveira's criticism isn't without merit. That said, 'LokDog' himself is notorious for giving his sparring partners a hard time.
Earlier this month, the 30-year-old posted a video on social media where he can be seen going at a fighter with little restraint, knocking him down. This prompted many in the MMA community, including UFC icon Chael Sonnen, to go nuclear at him. Sonnen wrote:
"Why are you posting these? Who’s your s**mbag friend holding the camera?"
Oliveira is undefeated in the UFC and is currently on a six-fight win streak. He was most recently seen in a unanimous decision win over Kyler Phillips at UFC 318.
Chael Sonnen explains why Alex Pereira vs. Jon Jones needs to be at light heavyweight
Like many in the sport, Chael Sonnen also wants Alex Pereira vs. Jon Jones at UFC White House. However, unlike Pereira and Jones, Sonnen wants the fight to go down at 205 pounds.
After Jones' short-lived retirement earlier this year, Dana White doesn't seem to trust the fighter enough to put him on such a momentous event.
Sonnen believes making it a light heavyweight bout will not only fetch UFC White House a main event fight, but also ensure that 'Bones' is fully committed to the matchup. During a recent segment on his YouTube channel, Sonnen said:
"Jon Jones says he's willing to fight at the White House, and it doesn't have to be for the belt, and it doesn't have to be a main event. Now to put Alex Pereira in a fight in the UFC on any card and not put him in the main event, you'd better have a hell of a good explanation... If you want Jon to show that he is earnest, you allow him to fight Alex Pereira, and you even let it be for a title, and you even make it the main event. You just make him cut down to 205 pounds, problem solved."
