Alex Pereira might be the UFC light heavyweight champion, but a former UFC fighter believes 'Poatan' is a heavyweight who cuts down to 205 pounds, and could even knock out Jon Jones.6'7" heavyweight Robelis Despaigne is no stranger to delivering stunning KOs. The Olympic taekwondo bronze medalist has won all of his MMA outings and all but one of his Karate Combat fights via stoppage. The Cuban recently engaged in hard sparring with Pereira, and from footage making the rounds on social media, the undersized 'Poatan' seems to have the power advantage.Amid rumblings of Pereira's potential heavyweight move, Despaigne is convinced that the Brazilian would fare well at the weight class. He feels the former GLORY kickboxing champion is a natural heavyweight who can cut down to light heavyweight and even middleweight.During an interview with MMA Fighting, Despaigne said:"Honestly, Pereira is a heavyweight. To me, he's a heavyweight who cuts down to 205 pounds. He has heavyweight power; he weighs 240-something [pounds]. He's weighing basically the same as, I don't know, Ciryl Gane in competition shape. He is a heavyweight who cuts to 205 pounds, and he could even afford to make 185 [pounds] if he wanted to."As Despaigne sees it, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for Pereira to knock out Jones if they meet in the octagon:"Yes, of course. If Jon Jones makes a mistake, you know he can put him to sleep... It's going to be a very anticipated fight, a big box-office fight... Each has their strengths. Pereira has his striking, and Jon Jones, I imagine, will try to take advantage of his wrestling."Check out Robelis Despaigne's comments on Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira below:Ex-UFC champion predicts Jon Jones' blueprint for victory against Alex PereiraMany believe the consensus MMA GOAT Jon Jones would be too much for Alex Pereira in a potential fight, and it seems former UFC middleweight title holder Michael Bisping is in this camp.During a recent segment of his YouTube channel, 'The Count' predicted that 'Bones' would employ a strategy similar to what he used against Ciryl Gane to get the win over the light heavyweight kingpin:"Let’s be honest, [Jones] beat Ciryl Gane by taking him down, and he’ll probably take down Alex Pereira, so it’s kind of one of those matchups that would favor Jon Jones."
