The spawning and appearance are vastly different between a regular and parched skeleton in Minecraft.

A regular skeleton can spawn anywhere in the Overworld where the light level is zero and there is a two-block vertical space for it to stand. It cannot spawn on certain blocks like slabs, glass, carpets, etc. It can also spawn through spawners in monster rooms, trial chambers. Additionally, it also spawns in the Soul Sand Valley in the Nether.

When spawned, a skeleton has a light gray and gray texture, with dark gray eyes and a mouth. Its torso only has ribs, and players can easily see through the creature. Lastly, it has a bow in its hand.

Parched is a special variant of a skeleton that can only spawn occasionally in the desert biome on blocks with zero light level. This means that the desert still has a mix of regular and parched skeletons. Unlike regular skeletons, however, it cannot spawn underground.

The desert-themed skeleton looks vastly different from a regular one. It wears torn, beige-colored clothes, is slightly darker than regular skeletons, and has light beige eyes but dark gray mouth.

In terms of attacks, both regular and parched skeletons are extremely similar. They both can detect players from a distance and start shooting infinite arrows towards them at the same pace. The only main difference is that the parched shoots arrows of weakness, while a regular skeleton shoots regular arrows. The weakness effect reduces a player's attack damage by two hearts.

Another difference between the two is that a regular skeleton has 10 hearts of health, while the parched only has eight hearts of health.

When killed, a regular skeleton can drop bones and arrows. It can also drop its head when killed by a charged creeper explosion.

The parched also drop bones and regular arrows, but it has a 50% chance of dropping arrows of weakness as well.
