The fate of the Minecraft-inspired game Hytale had been in a lurch ever since Riot Games bought Hypixel in June 2025. A title inspired by the block-shaped world, it was being developed by the team behind Hypixel till the title was grounded by Riot Games, who were funding its development. The RPG was in development since 2015, so it comes as no surprise that gamers were disappointed.However, Hypixel and Hytale founder Simon Collins-Laflamme took to social media and announced that Hytale has been reacquired from Riot Games, bringing the development of the much-awaited title back on track. The founder stated in his post:"We did it. Hytale is saved. We have acquired Hytale from Riot Games."In their official update on the website, Simon stated that they reached an agreement with Riot Games regarding Hytale since it did not make sense for them to develop the title in its current state. The founder further stated that they were fully independent and personally committed to funding Hytale for the next ten years.Apart from the much-awaited update on the fate of Hytale, Simon also stated that the Early Access date would be announced in the coming days. The RPG with a proposed launch for Windows, followed by an attempt for Linux/Mac integration in the future.
