Minecraft The Obsessed is a horror mod developed by Vllax and through original direction from IDK Someguy. This mod introduces a single, persistent entity that has an escalating fixation on you as you progress and survive in a world.

The mod implements a unique spawning system that can spot you from an unlimited distance and spawn near you while deliberately avoiding direct line of sight. This results in an authentic sensation of being stalked.

The creature is modular and has a specific mood system. Essentially, it has a numerical mood scale for -5 to 5. If you accept the gifts it brings and give it golden apples, its mood will improve; attacking or ignoring the creature will sour its mood and make it more dangerous.

The entity also has a variety of chaining modes system that determines whether it stalks, flees, hides behind terrain to peer out, crawls to remain obstructed, swims stealthily, mimics player movements, or adopts more hostile behaviors, etc. Here is a list of modes in which the entity can be when it spawns:

Mechanically, the mod offers sophisticated features such as look detection, which alters reactions of the entity when you are looking at it.

There are a few modes where the creature can invade your structures and also forcibly kidnap and relocate you. Defeating it yields a unique reward, the Supreme Repellant, which provides defensive benefits and can nullify the targeting tactics.

The modder has specifically mentioned that The Obsessed is under development and can still have several bugs and glitches.

How to download and install Minecraft The Obsessed mod

Here is a short guide on downloading and installing Minecraft The Obsessed mod:

Download and install Forge for the game version 1.20.1.
Head to Modrinth and search for the The Obsessed mod.
On the mod's product page, find and download the mod file, which should be compatible with Forge 1.20.1 as of now.
Copy and paste the mod files into the "mods" folder in the root game directory. For me, it's C:\Users\admin\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft.
Open the title's launcher and find the Forge 1.20.1 modded game version.
Create a new world when the game opens, you can experience the horror mod.
