Minecraft player showcases powerful spear-mace combo against the warden

Minecraft’s combat is about to get a major upgrade with the imminent release of the Mounts of Mayhem game drop. The final update of 2025 will add the spear weapon and just like the mace, players can increase the damage of its attack.

The mace can be made more powerful by gaining vertical height and the spear offers the same thing but with ground speed. This means that players can increase their speed to deal a deadly blow to the hostile mob or another player.

A Minecraft player, u/Fondcaveat, posted a video on the game’s subreddit showing how the mace and the spear can be used in a creative way to take down the warden, the strongest hostile mob in the blocky world, in just a few hits. The clip shows the player using the mace’s smash attack that propels them in the air. The user then adds to the damage by delivering a charged attack from the spear.

A deadly combination of this “smash and stab” results in the warden dying in just a few attacks. It is worth noting that the mob was stuck in a tight spot and could not move, meaning that in normal gameplay, executing this combo would be very difficult. This means that the spear and mace combo does not break the game but make things more interesting.

u/LogicalConclusion470 were surprised that the spear can be used on the other hand. The original poster replied that it can be done. u/BeautifulOnion8177 added that players can use any item with their other hand in the Java Edition of Minecraft.

u/InTheStuff asked the original poster to try the same thing in Survival mode where the warden is not locked in a space and can attack back. u/BeautifulOnion8177 replied that as long as the player does not get hit by the warden’s attack or its sonic blast, this can be done.

Players who want to try this attack combo won’t have to wait too long as the Mounts of Mayhem game drop is releasing on December 9, just slightly more than a week from now. This update will add new mobs that players can ride, including nautilus, zombie nautilus, camel husk, and the zombie horse.

The update will also bring the parched, a desert variant of the skeleton mob. The spear will be the highlight of this game drop because it will be a new combat weapon that can easily be crafted, unlike the rare mace. Players vs player game modes are also going to benefit a lot from this item.
