Minecraft player builds interesting 3x3 redstone door without pistons

Minecraft builders always come up with new and improved designs to make structures and even simple machines. Any type of automation in the blocky world such as automatic doors, sorting systems, etc., requires the use of redstone and related items such as observers and switches. A challenge that many players take is creating structures with limited items to see if it can be done or not.

A Minecraft player, u/KurtGoedle, shared a short video on the game’s subreddit showing how they made a 3x3 automatic door but without using any piston blocks. An automatic door usually requires a piston that moves the block to open or close the door. However, making it without any piston requires a lot of creativity and understanding of the redstone mechanism.

The clip featured the working process showing it uses blocks of sand and gravel that falls down to open the door and then comes back up via a column of bubbling water. While the idea is great, the best thing about this build is that it does not require a complicated redstone contraption and anyone can make it.

u/Atalant said that they are loving how players are making more and more doors without the use of piston. They also expressed their desire to use concrete powder with this design but the water would break it.

u/PotatoesAndChill pointed out that concrete powder might work in this machine as the falling powder block only hardens when it stops. But since it will be constantly moving in the water, it will not harden. The user then tried it out and confirmed that it worked on the Bedrock Edition.
