Minecraft fans are disappointed by the new version numbering system

Minecraft has had many things that made little to no sense to the players, including the reason why the developers did not make saddles craftable in the game. While that changed with the release of the Chase the Skies game drop, there are still many things about the game that are difficult to understand. One glaring thing is the new version numbering system.

A Minecraft player, u/LeBoots, made a post on the game’s subreddit pointing out the absurd numbering systems of new versions of the game, especially for the Bedrock Edition. The user added an image showing how each new update added a number after the decimal point. For example, the Spring to Life game drop was 25.1 for the Java Edition and 25.10 for the Bedrock.

While the fourth game drop, Mounts of Mayhem, was 25.4 for the Java Edition, it became 25.70 for the Bedrock Edition. This numbering system becomes quite confusing for players who want to know what the latest version of Minecraft is or what the next update will be labelled.

u/EmeraldJirachi pointed out that the game League of Legends tried doing the same thing some time ago but it only lasted for a few months and they had to get back to the normal numbering system. u/Tiprox jokingly replied that Mojang Studios has the ability to hold on to senseless decisions for Minecraft for a really long time.

u/Beneficial-Ad-5492 said that according to their estimates, around 60% of the players would call the next major update 1.22. For those who do not know, the current main version is 1.21 which also makes little sense. u/Party-Neat-7701 confirmed that they would even call it 1.22. u/TheShadowman131 mentioned that they don’t think there will be any major update in the foreseeable future.

Players have been eagerly waiting for the Mounts of Mayhem update and understandably so because this will be the final game drop of the year. Not just that, but this update will majorly impact the exploration and combat mechanics of the game as it brings the powerful spear weapon and many mobs that players can mount.

For example, the nautilus mob is one of the features in the update and it will be the first underwater mob that players can ride. The nautilus will help players to explore the ocean world. What makes it even better is that it automatically gives the Breath of the Nautilus status effect to allow players to breathe underwater without any issues.
