Tamil Thalaivas have released Head Coach Sanjeev Baliyan following the controversy in Pro Kabaddi 2025. After their final league game of the season, Sanjeev Baliyan had accused the team management of not allowing him to select the starting seven throughout the season.Tamil Thalaivas put out an official statement across their social media handles. The franchise terminated his contract and added that a new Head Coach would be announced soon."Tamil Thalaivas confirm that Head Coach Sanjeev Baliyan’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect. The club will announce a new head coach in due course," the statement read."Changing the team is not in the hands of Arjun or the coach. The analyst is there. They make the team. They can only make changes. It is not in the coach's hands. In fact, he is told what the first seven is at the start of the game. So what can Arjun or the coach really do?" Sanjeev Baliyan had said after their match against the Bengal Warriorz. Following the allegations, the management released an official statement after the season ended. The management clarified that the Head Coach was given complete authority and freedom, denying the allegations."The Head Coach was given complete authority and freedom over all sporting matters, including team selection, training, and tactics throughout the season. Before signing, he was fully briefed on the squad composition, including existing NYP and RYP retention, as well as the club's long-standing philosophy of developing young players. Every request made during the auction and the season was supported to ensure he had the team he wanted. At no stage did the management or analysts interfere in these matters. Any suggestion or remark to the contrary is entirely unfounded," the statement read.It was a season filled with controversy for the Thalaivas. Just three matches after the season began, they sent star raider and India captain Pawan Sehrawat back home, citing disciplinary issues.Tamil Thalaivas failed to make the playoffsTamil Thalivas did not have a great season on the field either. Their issues off that mat seemed to have an impact on the team's performance as well. They failed to make the playoffs, while being in contention to qualify at one stage.Moreover, they finished tenth on the table with just six wins from their 18 matches. They suffered five consecutive defeats to end the season on an extremely poor note.The Thalaivas will be keen to bounce back and make a strong comeback in the next season.
