Patna Pirates' star raider Ayan Lohchab reflected on his performance and the team's campaign in Pro Kabaddi 2025. The Pirates made it to the Playoffs. Unfortunately, they lost against the Telugu Titans in the third Eliminator. Ayan played a massive role in their success.
He ended the season as the top raider. Ayan Lohchab bagged 316 raid points from 22 matches at an average of 14.36 with 16 Super 10s. In an exclusive conversation with Sportskeeda, Ayan reflected that he was determined to do well before the start of the season.
"Before the start of the season, I had a goal in my mind that I wanted the team to win. I wanted to give my best performance. I wanted to be the best. I wanted to go to the next level. I wanted to give a good message. But the team didn't reach the finals. But it's okay, it happens," he said.
Ayan put in 431 raids and handled the raiding responsibility for the Pirates. He stated that he was happy to have done well.
"I didn't feel any pressure. I was happy. I was doing well for the team. I had full support from the coach. I didn't feel any pressure. I had full support," he added.
Ayan was consistent throughout the league. Among big names such as Arjun Deshwal, Devank Dalal, Bharat Hooda, and Ashu Malik, he stood out with his exceptional performance.
"I do feel happy that I did well but I also feel a little bad as we did not make the final. I have played with Arjun, Devank was with us last year so I am happy doing well (among the top raiders). But mainly, I am happy that we did well even though we did not make the final. The team did well and went till the top otherwise I would not have gotten the chance to score 300 points," he reflected.
Ayan Lohchab on his comparison with Pardeep Narwal
The Pirates found a star performer after many years. For his spectacular display, Ayan Lohchab was compared to former Pirates' legend Pardeep Narwal.
Pardeep played a massive role in helping Patna Pirates win three titles in the past. He spent five seasons with the Pirates. Overall, Pardeep amassed 1801 raid points from 190 matches.
Ayan Lohchab experienced pride in playing for a team with such a legacy. He was also happy on being compared to Pardeep.
"There is no pressure. I feel very proud that I am playing for a team that has been champions three times. I feel very good that I am playing for a team from which players like Pardeep Narwal and Devank have come out. There is no answer to him. Pardeep played very well. He was an excellent player. So it feels very good that I am being compared to him as he was a very good player," he said.
