Dabang Delhi skipper Ashu Malik opened up on his injury and responsibilities ahead of the Pro Kabaddi 2025 Final. His team beat Puneri Paltan in Qualifier 1 to progress to the summit clash right away. The final will be played on Friday, October 31.
Ashu Malik missed a few games in the league stage due to injury. He returned for their Qualifier game against Puneri Paltan. The skipper scored just four raid points. He expressed that he would play the final with taping on. However, Ashu reflected that he was moving well during practice. He added that the team was not reliant on one player, which has been their strength through the season.
Dabang Delhi K.C. Captain Ashu Malik interacted with the press ahead of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 Final during a Media Day organized by JioStar.
During the interaction, he said:
"Injury takes some time to recover. I was hit in the last match as well. But I will do some taping and play the match. But I feel it is okay because I attended practice and had a good movement. The momentum of the team is good. There is not one player whose performance has been weak. All are doing well and the bonding is good. We are not dependent on one player and are playing as a unit."
Dabang Delhi finished second on the points table after the league stage. They have been among the most consistent teams this season. Delhi will face either Telugu Titans or Puneri Paltan in the title clash.
"Nothing like there is more pressure just on me" - Ashu Malik
Dabang Delhi previously won the Pro Kabaddi title in Season 8. Ashu Malik was part of the team back then as a player. This time around, he will be leading the side in the final. While he reckoned that there would be responsibility on him as captain, he added that there would be no added pressure as such.
"The responsibilities will be there. But we have senior players. They will have the same amount of responsibility as I have. It is nothing like there is more pressure just on me. There is no pressure as such. The coach has given us a free hand. We will just play the final like a final and want to win the match," he said.
He has scored 150 raid points from 13 matches with eight Super 10s this season. Ashu will be keen to guide Dabang Delhi to their second trophy. The team will hope for their skipper to lead from the front in the all-important clash.
