Marco was a third-generation driver in the IndyCar field and made his debut in the premier open-wheel racing series in 2006. He then continued his full-time run in the series until 2020, before taking on an Indy 500-only role in the racing series.

Moreover, Marco made his last Indy 500 attempt this year, though it ended in heartbreak quite early. Despite that, many had anticipated that he would return in the fabled race next year, but he announced his sudden retirement came out of the blue, as he revealed on Instagram:

"We are SO unbelievably proud of you – not just for everything you've accomplished over the last 30 years, but most importantly, for the incredible father you've become. Watching you go from chasing your dreams to becoming the most devoted dad has been the most beautiful journey. This next chapter is going to be the absolute best. So proud of the man you are. Miura is the luckiest girl in the world to call you Dada!!!!! 🥰🤍"
