Chip Ganassi Racing star Scott Dixon is the most experienced IndyCar driver on the grid with six titles and 59 victories to his name. The New Zealander is married to Emma Davies Dixon and is the father of two daughters named Poppy & Tilly, and a son named Kit.

Kit Dixon turned five years old this year and began his karting career as he participated in a couple of events. Scott Dixon was present at the Phoenix Raceway for a tire test with the IndyCar tire supplier Firestone. IndyCar added Phoenix Raceway to the 2026 calendar, and the American open wheel racing series will be returning to the circuit for the first time since 2018.

The CGR driver gave an interview with SpeedFreaks at Phoenix and was questioned about his plans with Kit for the off-season. The host also detailed how Kit is an energetic kid while asking Scott about his son's karting career.

“Kit is definitely a bit of a firecracker. Definitely very outspoken, too, which is kind of interesting. Definitely gets that from his mother, not from me. Um but no, it's been fun. He only did two races this year. Uh we did a little bit of uh practice in the UK uh just recently. Um but yeah, we'll probably do a little bit actually in New Zealand. They get to go back to New Zealand this year and there's a new one that's opening up down there. So, we'll probably get a little bit of time, but he's only five, you know,” said Scott Dixon (5:40 onwards)

“So, actually in the UK, you can't really race to your seven. America, you can at five, but he nearly won his first race, but he crashed into a lapper and took himself out. So, we got a little bit of work to do and but it's good to see he's fire. He's definitely very fiery. So, yeah, we'll see how that plays out,” added Dixon

Scott Dixon details the changes at Phoenix Raceway since he last raced at the venue

The Phoenix Raceway was removed from the IndyCar calendar for 2006 and only made a comeback 11 years later in 2016. The circuit was on the calendar for just three years before again being removed from the calendar, and will make its first appearance since 2018 in 2026.

Scott Dixon and Alexander Rossi took to the Phoenix Raceway for the IndyCar tire test with Firestone, and the Chip Ganassi Racing driver detailed the changes at the venue since he last raced at it.

“Pit exit has changed a little bit. I think the kink (on the oval) and how they’ve moved the back wall, the grandstand is not where it used to be, the start-finish is on the other side. I guess everything has changed.”

“As far as the old track when I first came in the early 2000s, it’s kind of flipped on its head,” he added

The IndyCar race at Phoenix Raceway will take place on the same weekend as the NASCAR Cup Series weekend.
