Khelo India University Games Updated Medal Tally After Day 9: Guru Nanak Dev University still holds the pole position

The Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2025, India's most significant national-level multi-sport event, has entered its crucial final stages, with the medal tally still very close after the completion of Day 9. The Games, held across various cities in Rajasthan and featuring over 4,400 athletes, are a major platform for identifying and preparing young Indian talent.

As the final days approach, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) from Amritsar has pulled ahead to claim the top spot in the medal tally, showcasing their remarkable consistency across multiple disciplines.

GNDU's lead is built on a commanding count of 31 gold, 13 silver, and 13 bronze, totaling 57 medals. However, the race for the championship remains exceptionally close. Jain University, Karnataka, is right below GNDU, sitting in second place with an impressive 28 gold and 46 total medals, thanks to their early dominance in events like swimming.

Following closely, Lovely Professional University (LPU) from Punjab holds the highest overall number of medals among the top three, securing a total of 60 medals (24 gold, 22 silver, and 14 bronze), showcasing their strength in a wide range of sports.

Day 9 of competition saw spectacular performances, with athletes setting several new meet records. Chandigarh University athletes had a remarkable day as Rahul set a new meet record to clinch the Men's 20km Race Walk gold, and Deepika achieved a record-breaking distance in the Women's Javelin Throw.

Other top winners included Pooja of Lovely Professional University, who broke the meet record in the Women’s High Jump. Surbhi Rao of Chandigarh University winning the Women's 10m Air Pistol gold, and Keerthana of Jain University were some other remarkable winners.

These winners have completely affected the medal tally. Chandigarh University currently holds the fourth rank with 24 gold and 44 total medals, with Panjab University Chandigarh securing 40 total medals (9 gold) for the fifth spot. Savitribai Phule Pune University rounds out the top six with 28 medals, including 6 gold.
