Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) from Amritsar has finished at the top of the medal table after today's hectic day of the KIUG 2025, winning a total of 52 medals to secure the top rank. The Khelo India University Games (KIUG) is India's largest national-level multi-sport event for university athletes, designed to discover and train young talent for international competitions like the Olympics and Asian Games. The fifth edition of the Games, held across multiple cities in Rajasthan, saw more than 4,400 athletes from moves.
The competition on Monday, December 1, saw the standings solidify, with GNDU's strong performance across disciplines earning them 30 gold, 10 silver, and 12 bronze medals. This victory highlights the University's consistent excellence throughout the tournament, allowing them to pull ahead in the race for the coveted champion's title.
The competition for the top spot was fierce, particularly from Jain University, Karnataka, who finished a very close second by end of the day. Jain University concluded the games with an impressive 46 medals, including 28 gold, 9 silver, and 9 bronze. Their early lead and continued dominance in events like swimming made them a strong contender right up to the end.
Meanwhile, Lovely Professional University (LPU) from Punjab finished third with the highest overall medal count among the top universities, securing a total of 54 medals (22 gold, 21 silver, and 11 bronze), showcasing their strength across a wide range of sports.
Chandigarh University and Panjab University also in top 5 of KIUG 2025
The top five was rounded out by Chandigarh University and Panjab University Chandigarh. Chandigarh University claimed 13 gold medals and 32 total medals, while Panjab University also reached a total of 32 medals, with 8 gold, 14 silver, and 10 bronze. Further down the table, Savitribai Phule Pune University's total of 27 medals, including 6 gold, placed them in sixth position, reflecting a balanced performance in the Games.
