Day 4 of the ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol 2025 in Cairo, Egypt, continued to be highly productive for the Indian contingent, yielding two more crucial silver medals. The major highlight and standout performance of the day came from rifle specialist Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, who not only secured a hard-fought individual silver in the Olympic discipline of Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions but also delivered a performance that saw him equal a world record during the qualification round.

This momentous achievement marks Tomar’s first-ever individual medal at a senior World Championship, underscoring India’s growing elite capability across both rifle and pistol disciplines.

Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar commenced the Men's 50m Rifle 3P event with an absolutely flawless display in the qualification round. The two-time Asian champion shot a stunning score of 597 out of a possible 600 points, showcasing incredible control and accuracy.

This remarkable score included perfect 200/200s in both the Kneeling and Prone positions. His 597 score sensationally matched the existing qualification world record, jointly held by two Chinese shooters, signaling his readiness for the final.

Alongside him, fellow Indian Niraj Kumar also navigated the challenging qualification successfully, making the eight-man final in fifth position with a strong score of 592.

The 45-shot final evolved into a dramatic battle between Tomar and China's reigning Olympic champion, Liu Yukun. Tomar demonstrated consistent excellence, even holding a narrow lead heading into the decisive final series.

The climax was intense: Liu fired a steady 10.1, putting immense pressure on Tomar for the final shot. Requiring a 10.2 or better to secure the gold, Tomar's final attempt registered a 9.8, resulting in him taking the silver medal with a total score of 466.9, falling just 0.2 points short of Liu's gold-winning total of 467.1. Niraj Kumar finished a respectable fifth in the high-stakes final.

The Indian pair showcased their combined talent by dominating the qualification round, topping the field with a commanding combined score of 586 (Rana 293, Singh 293). This performance set up a tense gold medal showdown against the strong Chinese team of Hu Kai and Yao Qianxun.

Despite putting up a spirited fight in the match, Rana and Singh ultimately lost 10-16, having to settle for silver. This medal means Esha Singh couldn't defend the title she won at the previous World Championships, but it allowed Samrat Rana to end his inaugural senior World Championship appearance with an exceptional individual tally of two golds and one silver medal.

The two silver medals on Day 4 brought India's overall medal tally to an impressive 11 (three gold, five silver, and three bronze), solidifying the country’s hold on the second position in the overall medal standings, trailing only China.
