Indian Pickleball League 2025: Mumbai Smashers lose against Chennai Super Warriors; Lucknow, Hyderabad start with wins

Mumbai Smashers kicked off their Indian Pickleball League 2025 campaign against the Chennai Super Warriors on December 1 in New Delhi. The Mumbai-based franchise won their first match in the tie but lost the game against Chennai by 1-5.

Quang Duong stole the show while playing for the Mumbai Smashers in the first match against Chennai's Mitchell Hargreaves. Duong won the men's singles clash by 15-12 to give an early lead to the Mumbai-based franchise.

However, the Chennai Super Warriors bounced back in style by recording wins in the rest of the matches. The pair of Mitchell Hargreaves and Harsh Mehta won the men's doubles clash against Quang Duong and Ammol Ramchandani by 15-9.

Roos van Reek secured a 15-12 win over Mumbai's Allison Harris, while Chennai's Aaliya and Roos van Reek won the women's doubles by 15-10 against Allison Harris and Pearl Amalsadiwala. Chennai won the grand rally by 21-18 to win the tie by 5-1.

Lucknow Leopards defeated Bengaluru Blasters in the opening tie of Indian Pickleball League 2025

After a grand opening ceremony in New Delhi, the first tie of the Indian Pickleball League 2025 took place between Lucknow Leopards and Bengaluru Blasters. Lucknow secured a comfortable 5-1 win in the tie by emerging victorious in the men's singles, women's singles, women's doubles and grand rally categories.

Bengaluru's only point came in the men's doubles category. Their team of Arjun and Phuc Huynh defeated Himansh and Ryler Deheart by 15-8.

Talking about the second match of the evening, Hyderabad Royals beat the Capital Warriors Gurgaon by 4-2. The Hyderabad-based franchise won the men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles and women's doubles matches in the tie. They could have completed a 6-0 clean-sweep, but Gurgaon managed to win the Grand Rally by 21-14 to ensure that the final scoreline ended as 4-2 in favor of Hyderabad.
