GTA 5's fanbase has created a plethora of unique mods for the game over the span of 13 years. While some mods add new vehicles, others add new weapons and even unique gameplay mechanics. However, one modder named FV Mods has been working hard to bring mods that add entire map expansions. Their mods add various popular real-life and fictional locations to the map.
Here is everything to know about the modder and their GTA 5 map expansion mods.
All details about the modder who expanded GTA 5 map by adding real-life locations
FV mods (a.k.a. Filip) is a well-known modder in Grand Theft Auto space. They first started developing massive map projects for GTA 4 in 2014, after which they moved to GTA 5 Legacy and also GTA 5 Enhanced.
One of the first map expansions that the modder converted for GTA 5 was a countryside map called CountrysideViV. They also converted a World Trade Center building mod for GTA 4 and added it to GTA 5 as part of the Liberty City Rewind project.
In recent years, FV mods developers have fully shifted to GTA 5, initially creating map expansions for GTA 5 Legacy, then moving to the Enhanced version as well. They have a page on the Nexus Mods website and also a page on the GTA 5 Mods website, where they have most of their popular projects.
Here is a list of some of their map expansion projects for GTA 5 Enhanced:
- Oldburries - This mod adds a mix of rural regions, including farmlands, tall powerlines, natural scenery, wide roads in Fairwell Fields, and a small town in between, going by the name of Oldburry Town.
- Liberty State - This mod contains the entire state of Liberty City, especially the countryside landscape.
- Sunshine Dream - This mod adds the map from another title named Driv3r.
- Windy City - This mod adds the map from another title, named Race Driver GRID 2.
- Midnight Shuto - This mod adds the iconic map of Tokyo's expressways, originally created by BANDAI NAMCO.
- Fujimi Kaido - This mod adds the popular fictional map of Japan, originally from Forza Horizon 4, which was modded into Assetto Corsa.
Several of these mods can be combined to form a massive GTA 5 map, in which players can fly from Los Santos to multiple new locations and explore them. Even though these map mods might not be as detailed as Los Santos itself, they are worth checking out.
For players who are bored with the same old map in GTA 5, they should definitely check out FV mods' map expansion projects.
