KnoWay in GTA Online A Safehouse in the Hills: Everything to know

With the GTA Online A Safehouse in the Hills DLC, Rockstar Games is adding a brand new company called KnoWay, which will manufacture several self-driving cars or robotaxis. This is the first time self-driving cars are being introduced in the title and is a massive step forward in its evolution.

KnoWay is a brand new self-driving taxi service that arrived in Los Santos with the GTA Online A Safehouse in the Hills update. It was first announced by Rockstar in its blog post about the update and was also featured in an official trailer.

If players download the update but do not undertake any missions, they will only see these driverless taxis as NPC cars moving around the city. Additionally, they will see KnoWay billboards, promoting the taxi service. Players themselves will not be able to call or use these driverless cabs at all.

However, if players head to the "A" symbol on the map, they will start the Avi Schwartzman contact missions called "KnoWay Out." In these missions, Avi claims that KnoWay is secretly an FIB field office collecting data. Avi plans to destroy the company so that the FIB's surveillance network through these vehicles stops, and they do not monitor your illegal activities.

KnoWay Out consists of various missions related to KnoWay taxis:

Negative Press - Break into the KnoWay station, take control of a self-driving car, and wreak havoc to destroy the company's reputation.
Inside Job - Find where KnoWay datacenters are by entering as one of their mercenaries. Then, infiltrate the datacenter to steal its data.
Tunnel Vision - Avi finds out that KnoWay is planning on launching self-driving trains. Players then need to head down to the train tunnels and take out a KnoWay engineer setting up the project.
Trash Talking - Steal even more offline data from KnoWay that is being thrown away, hidden in their trash.
A Clean Break (finale) - Get intentionally arrested by the FIB, and then leave the FIB building after stealing their data, completely wiping everything that they gathered from KnoWay taxis.

Through these missions, we find out that KnoWay is secretly run by FIB for monitoring any illegal activities in the city. Furthermore, we learn that Mr. Faber is somewhat connected to KnoWay. When players purchase a mansion, Mr. Faber says that he is going to a Series C pitch about KnoWay taxis.

After all the Avi Schwartzman missions and Home Sweet Home mission with Michael, Faber calls and sarcastically says that the KnoWay mercenaries infiltrating the player's mansion was not his doing.
