The latest announcement by Rockstar Games regarding the third delay for the launch of GTA 6 left the gaming community vastly disappointed. Apart from cheeky memes and digs at the repeated delay, gamers were outraged at this almost six-month extension in the release date.

However, information shared by popular developer interviewer and insider Reece “Kiwi Talkz” Reilly (@kiwitalkz) suggests that GTA 6 is essentially "content-complete," and this six-month extension would include extensive testing and quality checks to ensure the final product is flawless upon release.

In a tweet on social media platform X, the insider stated that Rockstar is working on "optimising the hell" out of GTA 6 and working hard to prevent a "Cyberpunk scenario". Gamers can fondly remember the bugs galore that they were met with when the much-awaited world of Night City dropped, so it comes as no surprise that Rockstar is taking all necessary measures to prevent something similar.

Since GTA 6 is set to be the biggest IP in Rockstar Games' history, it could make sense that they would incur the wrath of disappointed gamers for a few more months just to ensure that the release candidate gives them a flawless gameplay experience.

Insider “Kiwi Talkz” further stated that many gamers were having a hard time accepting the fact that polishing a game could result in a delay. The popular YouTuber and interviewer further stated that AAA games have reached an insurmountable scope and size, so a massive testing period comes as no surprise.

The tweet also referred to Nintendo's decision to test Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom for an entire year because of its advanced physics. Compared to that, GTA 6 is exponentially more complicated and bigger, so it is a no-brainer for the developers to take time to buff out the hard edges.

While the delay feels like a blow, it is better to wait a few more months than dive into a game filled with so many bugs that you feel like you're a Helldiver about to liberate a bug-infested planet. With the release of GTA VI on November 19, 2026, gamers will have to touch some more grass before they lock themselves in and dive into the world of Jason and Lucia.
