Veteran pro Erik Compton dubs her 16-yo daughter ‘one of the top 200 players in the country’ in her age

Erik Compton has praised his daughter Petra for her game after she won districts by six shots. The budding amateur golfer is following in her father’s footsteps and plays golf.

She recently represented the Carrollton School golf team at a district competition and shot a round of 2-under 70. After her victory, Erik Compton opened up about his daughter’s game and said (via Golfweek):

"She secretly is a very good player, probably, in my opinion, one of the top 200 players in the country at her age. I’ve seen a lot of golf over the years and she’s definitely coming into her own.”

In his career, Erik Compton has played on the PGA Tour and currently competes on the Korn Ferry Tour. He has won six tournaments in his career and participated in all four majors.

This season, he played in one PGA Tour event, the Corales Puntacana Championship, where he shot rounds of 73 and 74 before missing the cut.

Petra Compton has shown promise in junior events; however, she has yet to defeat her father in a match. She remains confident about her game and believes she will do it soon. She said (via Golfweek):

“I’m sure I could now."

Meanwhile, Erik Compton won a tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2011 at the Mexico Open, where he recorded a two-stroke victory over Richard H. Lee.

This year in the junior events, Erik Compton’s daughter Petra has posted several notable finishes. Last month, she won the Srixon Medalist Tour Eagle Trace event. She was also the runner-up at the Estates event back in April.
