Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy together established a tech-infused arena-based league, TGL, in 2025. The league has grown in popularity since its inception, thanks to the participation of well-known golfers. There is a lot of buzz around what the TGL season 2 will be like, but unfortunately, there is some disappointing news about Woods's presence at the league next year.

The 82-time PGA Tour winner is currently out of competitive golf due to a back surgery he underwent in October. He had a disk in his lower back replaced since it was causing him discomfort and movement concerns. Woods' recuperation has been going well thus far, and he was recently cleared for chipping and putting. This created a lot of expectation for his return, which Woods addressed in an interview with the Palm Beach Post.

Tiger Woods discussed a variety of topics throughout the interview, including his upcoming TGL season, and revealed that he will not play in the first half. The golfer added that, while he has been cleared for chipping and putting, he still needs to be cleared for many more drives before entering competitive golf. The 15-time major champion explained:

"I won't be able to play the first part of the TGL season, but I will be there every match Jupiter Links competes in. Hopefully, I will be able to maybe play the end of the season here and there, but I don't know. I just started chipping and putting. I got to hit more shots than just chip and putt in TGL, there's a few drives I might have to hit."

Currently, there are also rumors about Tiger Woods potentially joining the PGA Tour Champions, and several legendary golfers have shown their support for these rumors. Recently, another 55-year-old PGA golfer addressed the claims, revealing why Woods should join the Seniors Tour.

Tiger Woods will turn 50 years old later this month, making him eligible to compete on the PGA Champions Tour. There has been much anticipation for him to join the tour and reignite some of his old rivalries, and Mike Weir, another senior golfer competing on the tour, recently addressed this anticipation, suggesting that Woods can make the tour more exciting.

According to Golfing Gazette, Weir stated,

"The major champions continuing to play, play well [is the most important thing for PGA Tour Champions]. I think guys of your generation, my generation, grew up watching and watching us guys, and we’re still playing at a high level. There’s the little carrot out there that hopefully Tiger plays some. That would be wonderful if he gets out there and gets his competitive juices going again. I would love to see that."

Woods has not yet made any impulsive decisions about whether he will play on the Seniors Tour or the PGA Tour.
