Tiger Woods and new PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp reportedly met privately with the entire Hero World Challenge field on Tuesday night to brief players on how the Tour could evolve in the coming years. The closed-door meeting took place at Albany Club and brought all 20 players together, including Jordan Spieth, who previously served on the Tour’s policy board.

According to Golfweek, the meeting ran roughly 90 minutes and included a detailed presentation from Woods and Rolapp. Spieth later explained that the two walked players through the early framework of their vision, which focuses on improving the Tour’s product and making the competitive structure easier for fans to follow.

"They plan on making our product better. They're still a lot of things in consideration, so they're gonna try to make sure they get it right, and then they're gonna pass it down to (the Player Advisory Council) to pass it back up (to the board of directors), make sure everybody's happy, and they're using the networks and partners that we have on the media side now and some potential new players and asking them how to make it better as well as our sponsors, and that should be a good representation of what the fans want, toor," Spieth told Golfweek.

Tiger Woods has been heavily involved in the process as a board director and chair of the Future Competitions Committee. Earlier on Tuesday, he mentioned that the committee had already held several meetings and gathered feedback from fans, sponsors, tournament directors and broadcast partners. The next step is bringing players into the loop, especially with some changes possibly arriving as early as 2027. Rolapp also hosted a similar briefing last month at the World Wide Technology Championship.

Despite speculation that the Tour might be shifting toward a more exclusive setup, Spieth said Woods made it clear that this is not the intention.

"We're gonna fine tune what we have and the eligibility side of things as well because he thinks it's a little confusing at the end of the (FedEx Cup) season to (FedEx Cup Fall), like, we want to make it just a little more easier for the fan to understand, like, who's going to be at, what events,” Spieth said.

Rumors have already surfaced that the Tour could reduce the number of tournaments in the future and possibly begin the season after the Super Bowl. Rolapp has previously highlighted the idea of scarcity, and Tiger Woods confirmed that the committee has been tasked with building the best possible schedule and product for the long term.

Tiger Woods sheds light on the Future Competitions Committee’s work

Tiger Woods offered a closer look at the ongoing overhaul of the PGA Tour schedule, explaining that the newly formed Future Competitions Committee is still working through a wide range of ideas. Speaking at the Hero World Challenge, Woods said the group is taking a comprehensive approach as it evaluates how the Tour should look in the coming years.

Tiger Woods did not reveal any concrete changes but made it clear the committee is considering multiple formats and structural models.

“We started with a blank slate, what would the best product we can possibly create, what would it look like, OK?” Woods said. (via PGA Tour)
“So you take a white sheet of paper and you start throwing ideas out there, and there's like a thousand ideas on this board. Then you add in all the people that we interviewed and what would they like to see and you throw all those up there. … I think that in the end we're going to have a product that is far better than what we have now for everyone involved.”

The committee was formed in August and has already held three formal meetings, though Tiger Woods said conversations are happening almost every day. The nine-member group includes six players, with Woods joined by Adam Scott, Patrick Cantlay, Maverick McNealy, Keith Mitchell and Camilo Villegas. Business leaders Joe Gordor, John Henry and Theo Epstein complete the committee.
