The Grant Thornton Invitational 2025 field: 16 mixed teams explored

The Grant Thornton Invitational 2025 featured a mixed player field of 32 players. Sixteen teams, including players from the LPGA Tour and PGA Tour, will compete in the tournament.

Jake Knapp and Patty Tavatanakit will return to defend their title. Last year, they registered a one-stroke win over Tom Kim and Jeeno Thitikul, who are not playing this year. In 2025, Nelly Korda will compete in the three-day event along with Denny McCarthy. Lydia Ko, Lilia Vu, and Lexi Thompson will also tee off next week at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort.

The Grant Thornton Invitational tournament director, Rob Hartman, opened up about the field. He said (via GolfWeek):

"We are thrilled with the 16 dynamic teams we’ve been able to put together for this year. The interest from both tours continues to be high, and we are incredibly pleased with the collection of world-class players heading to Tiburón Golf Club this December. These mixed teams are comprised of current-year winners from both tours, many of the game’s rising stars and established veterans and major champions.”

The Grant Thornton Invitational 2025 will start with its first round on December 12 and will have its final on December 14 in Florida.

The Grant Thornton Invitational started in 2023. Lydia Ko and Jason Day won the inaugural edition. They registered a one-stroke win over Corey Conners and Brooke Henderson.

Ko will again play with Jason Day this year. Last year, Ko and Day played together and settled in solo sixth place at 20-under.

Players will compete in a different format on three days. This involves scramble, foursome, and modified four-ball format. The team will compete for a purse of $4 million.

Nelly Korda also played in the tournament last year in a team with Daniel Berger. The team carded the rounds of 63, 70, and 67 to settle with a score of 16-under and settled in 13th position this year.

Korda will return this year in a team with McCarthy. Lexi Thompson will team up with Wyndham Clark, Charley Hull will play with Daniel Berger, and Rose Zhang will team up with Michael Kim.
