LIV Golf rumor mill ran hot this week as reports of PGA Tour winners Si Woo Kim and Sungjae Im took main stage. Im was quick to shut down those rumors with a ‘fake news’ tag on social media. While the South Korean golfer had a two-word response to the fake reports, his caddie had more jokes about it.

The first report of Im’s alleged move to LIV Golf in 2026 came on Wednesday. The golfer’s caddie, Willy Wilcox soon took to X (formerly Twitter), to joke that Sungjae has signed a deal with American space and aeronautics agency NASA to play on Mars and Neptune. The silly joke was put out to quash the fake rumors before the two-time PGA Tour-winning pro addressed it himself.

Furthermore, he followed it up with a poorly-edited picture of Im in a space suit captioned ‘NASA Golf Ture.’

Sungjae Im dubs LIV Golf rumors ‘Fake news’

Sungjae Im’s reaction to reports citing anonymous sources claiming he was ready to join LIV Golf in 2026 came hours after his caddie cracked the joke it. The South Korean pro dismissed the reports as ‘fake news.’ The golfer, who was linked to the Saudi-backed series alongside compatriot Si Woo Kim, denied the link on an Instagram story.

He wrote the two words message with a ‘thumbs down’ emoji on top of a screenshot that settled the matter.

Interestingly, Kim’s camp later confirmed the reports of the four-time PGA Tour golfer being contacted by LIV Golf. However, the 30-year-old turned down the offer. His management declared his decision to remain on the American circuit despite the interest from the big-money breakaway series.

An official from Kim's camp said, as quoted by the Mirror:

“It is true that Kim Si-woo, like many Korean players, has been offered a recruitment. However, Kim Si-woo finally expressed his intention to refuse and decided to remain on the PGA Tour… It is not true at all to go to LIV Golf. We are focusing on preparing for the PGA Tour next season, and there is no change related to our future career path.”

For the unversed, the reports linking the two South Korean pros to LIV come months after reports tied Australian PGA Tour pro Min Woo Lee to the Saudi-backed series. The 27-year-old later ended any speculation by confirming that he was not making the move.

It is pertinent to note that Frenchman Victor Perez, a regular on the DP World Tour, is currently the latest player to make the move to LIV. He confirmed the jump a week ago.
