The PGA Tour revealed its 2026 season schedule in early August. The latest season of the American circuit, starting with The Sony Open in Hawaii on January 15, features a total of 38 events across five countries, including the four major championships, signature events, and other co-sanctioned tournaments. With just weeks to go, Scottie Scheffler has called the new schedule a ‘sprint.’
The world No. 1 dubbed the circuit’s compressed calendar, set to end in September, a “pretty quick season.” The comments came during Scheffler’s appearance on Golf Channel’s Final 5 Clubs episode released ahead of Wednesday’s Optum Golf Channel Games. The four-time PGA Tour Player of the Year winner added that he is yet to plan his new season.
Scottie Scheffler told Golf Channel on Wednesday:
“The golf schedule is turning into more of a sprint for sure, especially trying to finish in September… It’s quick from January to September. It’s a pretty quick season… I haven’t fully set my schedule for the next year, but there’s definitely some weeks where I would love to be able to play, but it’s important for me to be able to be rested, to be able to go back out and compete.”
For the unversed, the comments come after Scheffler ended his 2025 season with seven wins, including The Players Championship, the Masters, the Memorial and the Tour Championship. The 29-year-old became the first player since Tiger Woods in 2007 to win seven times in a single season and last week matched the latter’s record by winning the Jack Nicklaus award a consecutive fourth time.
Scottie Scheffler calls PGA Tour schedule's travel a “pretty easy task
Despite dubbing the new season calendar a ‘sprint,’ Scottie Scheffler exuded excitement for it. The reigning Masters champion reiterated his support for the PGA Tour. He further called the circuit’s ‘on-the-road’ schedule a “pretty easy task.” However, he justifiably explained his inability as a player to compete in every event weekend.
Scottie Scheffler added:
“I would love to be able to play every week on the PGA Tour. I mean, the PGA Tour does such a good job of running tournaments and giving us great places to play and treating us so well. Being on the road playing the PGA Tour is a pretty easy task. I mean, it’s a lot of fun, but at the same time, I can’t play every week, even though I wish I could.”
It is pertinent to note that Scheffler signed off the official FedEx Cup season in August by finishing T4 at the TOUR Championship. He returned for the FedEx Fall series’ Procore Championship outing at Silverado Resort, which he won. Last week, he teed up at Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas and finished T4. The 19-time PGA Tour winner is set to tee off the upcoming season with The Sony Open in Hawaii.
