Scottie Scheffler ease on PGA Tour loyalty, says he’ll play ‘where the best players are’

Scottie Scheffler opened his PGA Tour schedule. The American golfer is preparing to play at the 2025 Hero World Challenge. He is looking forward to defending his title this week in the Bahamas, and ahead of the event, in a pre-tournament press conference, he talked about his time playing on the PGA Tour.

He was asked about the 2026 schedule and playing on the circuit. In response, the American golfer said (via Tee Script):

"I don't know what a perfect schedule looks like for me. I like being able to have a little bit of freedom in the way I play tournaments. That's something that I think is an advantage to our Tour, I definitely enjoy that part of it.

"But at the end of the day I'm going to play where the best players are playing. I kind of -- I love competition, I love playing against the best players, so wherever those guys are playing that's probably where you're going to see me," he added.

Scottie Scheffler has been enjoying a phenomenal season on the PGA Tour in the last two years. He won seven tournaments last season and also recorded two runner-up finishes. This season, he played in 20 events and made the cut in all of them. He recorded six wins and was the runner-up in one.

Scottie Scheffler won the Hero World Challenge in 2023 and then went on to defend the title in 2024. He is looking forward to making a winning streak. In the pre-tournament press conference of the event, he talked about his impressive performance at the Hero World Challenge in the last few years. He said (via Tee Script):

" I've had some success here, I think a couple seconds and a couple firsts. It's a golf course that I like. It's a great place to be able to practice and kind of get back onto a schedule with my trainer and Teddy and guys that I don't really see throughout the offseason. I find this week to be pretty valuable as I look toward starting next season."

The 2025 Hero World Challenge will start with its first round on Thursday, Dec. 4, and will run through the weekend and will have its finale on Sunday, Dec. 7. Meanwhile, this season on the PGA Tour, Scheffler started his campaign at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where he played four rounds of 67, 70, 69 and 67 and settled in a tie for ninth place.

He then tied for third place at the Genesis Invitational. He won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, the PGA Championship, the Memorial Tournament, the Open Championship, the BMW Championship, and the Procore Championship this season.
