Sami Valimaki made a huge jump in the Official World Golf Ranking after he won the RSM Classic. He had an impressive time on the greens this week in the final fall season event. He registered a one-stroke win in the game.
With that, Valimaki has jumped from 98th place in the OWGR to 40th place, surpassing golfers such as Jon Rahm and 57 others. The LIV golfer is ranked in 80th place in the OWGR.
Sami Valimaki was ranked 160th ahead of The American Express, but he missed the cut and slipped down to 165th place. He finally jumped into the top 100 after his T7 finish at the One Flight Myrtle Beach Classic, but he then missed the cut at the PGA Championship and slipped down to 102. He was ranked outside the top 100, and finally, his win this week helped him jump within the top 50.
Max McGreevy settled in solo second place at the event, followed by Ricky Castillo. Before playing this week at the RSM Classic, Valimaki played at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, where he carded the four rounds of 71, 69, 67, and 73 and settled in a tie for 18th place.
Sami Valimaki reflects on his win at the RSM Classic

Sami Valimaki started his campaign at the 2025 RSM Classic with an opening round of 66. He then had an impressive time in the second round and played a round of 62.
The Finnish golfer then played the next rounds of 65 and took the lead in the game. He extended the lead after the final round of 66, registering a one-stroke win. In the post-round press conference, Sami Valimaki opened up about his victory. He said (via Tee Scripts):
"My goal was kind of just to be DP World Tour player and win over there. I did it in fifth tournament over there and after that I feel like that was it, that was kind of like to drive me.
"And then kind of the opportunity '23 came up, that first top-10 from there (indiscernible) over here and that kind of gives me the new motivation to get those top-10 cards. And then last two years has been just my main goal, get the win over here."
This season on the PGA Tour, Sami Valimaki has competed in 26 tournaments and made the cut in 17 of them. He was the runner-up at the Worldwide Technology Championship before winning this week.
Some of his other notable finishes are solo fourth at the Texas Children's Houston Open, T12 at the Valero Texas Open, T18 at the RBC Heritage, and T15 at the Farmers Insurance Open.
