Rory McIlroy reached the pinnacle of his career during the 2025 season, when he finally won the Masters. He had been chasing this championship for over a decade before finally winning it this year and completing his career Grand Slam. McIlroy became only the sixth golfer in history to accomplish this monumental feat, and Nick Faldo recently discussed it, claiming that McIlroy will never earn the same level of achievement again.

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, the 62-year-old veteran highlighted how once you climb Mount Everest, you will never look back and do it again. Similarly, Rory McIlroy has won everything, and even if he wins another golf major in the future, he will not be able to top his emotional moment at Augusta National this year.

Nick Faldo stated,

"It is like climbing Everest, you don’t turn around and say ‘let’s go up again next month.’ There was so much emotion at Augusta, and you cannot reproduce the emotion to win a Major like that again, so I think it will be tough for Rory to win another one."

Faldo also compared McIlroy's situation with that of Scottie Scheffler, suggesting that Scheffler is more level-headed because he trusts his game completely. The legendary golfer continued,

"Whereas Scottie seems to be very clear-headed right now. He’s in that wonderful moment where he trusts his game 100 per cent. It’s like Tiger (Woods) was. Scottie’s in that lovely mindset and routine of going to every tournament thinking ‘how do I find a way to win this?’"

Even McIlroy has admitted that winning the 2025 Masters was an emotional experience for him and that seeing the replays still feels special to him.

Rory McIlroy's victory in the 2025 Masters was far from being just a normal win. The tournament was a total roller coaster for him, and in the end, he finished tied with Justin Rose for the lead. The two faced off in a dramatic playoff, with McIlroy eventually winning on the greens of Augusta National's hole 18.

In an interview, McIlroy stated that viewing his triumph on Hole 18 at Augusta National still makes him emotional after 8-9 months. The golfer stated:

"If I watch that final scene on the 18th green and I drop to my knees, it’s still hard for me not to cry. Whatever it is, eight or nine months on, it just so hard for me not to feel those emotions again. But if you want something for so long and so badly, and you end up doing it, you dream about doing it, but you don’t dream about what comes next."

Rory McIlroy eventually won a total of $4.2 million for his massive win at Augusta National.
