This is not the first time Rory McIlroy has won the award. He has received it seven times in his career. McIlroy shares a strong partnership with his coach, Michael Bannon. The duo started working together when the five-time major winner was just eight years old.

Rory McIlroy, who started playing professionally in 2010, broke his decade-long major winless streak at the Masters in April. He clinched his first green jacket after defeating Justin Rose in a playoff.

He won his first major at the U.S. Open in 2011, where he registered an eight-stroke win over Jason Day. He then won the PGA Championship in 2012, followed by The Open Championship and the PGA Championship in 2014, before winning the 2025 Masters.
